Sisyphus is an absurd hero and a symbol of human existence. His fate was the eternal rolling of a boulder up a hill, which always rolled down before reaching the top, and he had to start over. Albert Camus, a representative of the philosophy of existentialism, thought of him as a hero who triumphed over the gods because he rose above his absurd fate and found happiness in it.
Masár presents the ancient hero, who does not give up, does not lose the courage to continue and the meaning of his work, as an artist in the creative process. The boulder turns intoa crumpled sheet of paper, a discarded sketch that does not correspond to the idea of the final form of the work. The artist's task is to search for an adequate expression of an idea,transcribing the idea from the mind and searching for its shape in the world,on the paper in front of him.
The author created the environment as an artist's studio. The recurring beginning, the return to a clean sheet of paper, is symbolically expressed by the numbers zero. Looking into the mirror, the viewer of the work also becomes Sisyphus.
